The insight behind the brand is historical: before modern cosmetics existed, Japanese women used diluted sake as a skin toner — a practice documented in records of geisha culture and traditional beauty rituals. Sake is naturally rich in amino acids, organic acids, vitamins B1 and B2, and ferulic acid — all produced during the rice fermentation process — which the skin recognises and absorbs with particular efficiency.

The Sake Face Wash (日本酒の洗顔料) is the cleansing foundation of the Kikumasamune skincare routine — a foaming facial cleanser that uses sake fermentation extract (rice fermentation liquid) alongside cellulose and amino acids to clean thoroughly while actively protecting the skin's moisture during washing.
